June Lake

Wednesday, June 17

Anyone who has never experienced waking up in a tent and looking out to see the eastern Sierras in all of their glory has got to get a trip out here onto their bucket list ASAP.
We spent the earliest part of the morning hanging around the campsite, enjoying coffee and hot chocolate while taking in the incredible views that surround this little slice of heaven.
We decided to drive down the road and rent a boat from the nearby RV Resort and spend some time fishing on Silver Lake. It turns out we aren't the quietest or most serene fisher-people (shocking, I know), but we sure do love being out on the water!
In the afternoon, while on our way into June Lake town, we spotted the most beautiful beach along the north shore of the lake; it looked like something straight out of the south of France. We couldn't resist. For the next two hours we played and rested on the shoreline of glacial-colored waters, basking in the knowledge that this would surely be one of those snippets in time that would live with all of us (well, maybe not Annie) forever.
The kids were both asleep by 7:30 - thank you, sunshine and high altitude - and Kier and I took in the evening sitting on the tailgate of the car, sipping on a tin cup of Bulleit Burbon (me).
Bliss.

There was a rainbow AROUND the sun while we were on the boat! I've only seen this once before, with Genny while on a walk around Parker.

Lily built a town out of things she found on the beach!

Kier fished the stream near our campsite in the evening and caught this teeny tiny Trout. All together, he only cost us about $98, NBD.
