Yosemite

Friday, June 19

Ahhhh... YOSEMITE!  Man, what a place!
We woke up and got busy breaking camp since the day was already starting to get hotttt and we didn't want to waste a moment in this great park.  The kids rode their scooters around the loop while Kier and I packed up and took in coffee by the gallon (turns out that Annie + campfire smoke = TERRIBLE SLEEPING).
The bike rental shop was pretty busy but we were able to find a really nice trailer/daddy-style set up, as well as a cute Mommy-style cruiser and off we went, taking in the hazy, warm morning on wheels!  The kids absolutely loved the trailer; they chowed on goldfish crackers and apple juice while commanding, "faster, Daddy, FASTER!" past the Ahwahnee, over the Merced, and under Sentinel Rock.
The afternoon heat was blazing so we drove down the road and found a quiet little beach along the river to wade in and hunt for tadpoles (she wouldn't believe us that there aren't actually tadpoles in the Merced river).  While we sat and watched the kids play around we made the difficult but necessary decision to pull the plug on the upcoming fourth night in a tent and find a hotel outside of the park.  The sun and the heat and the campfires were adding up to make the kiddos pretty wiped out and we knew that a night in the air conditioning would likely save us from some potentially miserable babies on Saturday morning.
San Francisco, here we come!
